| People laughed when I told them that martial arts could teach children self-discipline, focus, confidence and self- |
| esteem… |
| |
| That is until they saw her straight A report card. They're not laughing now. Find out how to do the same below… |
| |
| It's a scary world out there for kids, isn't it? |
| |
| |
Each day we ask our children to face challenges that were unheard of just a few short |
| years ago. |
| |
| |
Overcrowded classrooms, peer pressure, violence, and levels of negativity in our society can discourage even |
| the brightest and most optimistic child. |
| |
| |
And, when our children hopefully manage to remain physically safe, we can't help but feel alarmed – |
| wondering if they are maintaining the optimism and self-esteem they had when they were younger. |
| |
| |
I am writing to you, as one parent to another, with an important message: |
| |
| |
It doesn't have to be this way. A solution exists. And it's easier than you think. |
| |
| BUT first… |
| |
| Can you relate to any of the following? |
| |
|
Johnny doesn't like to play outside. He has settled into a couch potato lifestyle, playing video games and |
| |
watching T.V. His junk food intake is increasing and his weight is getting out of control. |
| |
|
Jenny used to be outgoing, happy and always upbeat. But recently, she has been discouraged, unsure of herself |
| |
and not quite the same person. |
| |
|
David's mom is worried about him in school. He gets his feelings hurt so easily and she is afraid that he will |
| |
become a target for bullies. |
| |
|
Katrina is a perfectionist. She always does what her parents and teachers say the first time, however, if she |
| |
doesn't get it right she becomes angry and puts herself down saying “I'm just not good enough!” |
| |
|
|
Heather is constantly fighting with Kyle and Madison to get ready in the morning. Getting dressed, brushing their |
| |
teeth and eating breakfast is a chore. Screaming matches between the kids occur often. |
| |
|
|
Lauren used to love to study and read and always received great grades. Recently though, she doesn't think it's |
| |
cool to be smart anymore and she isn't trying hard in school. |
| |
|
|
Julie doesn't think she is as pretty as the other girls. She thinks she is not special enough. |
| |
|
| I know what you're thinking. |
| |
| “This sounds great, but will it really work for my child?” |
| |
| And, “How can I get these same results for my child, NOW!?” |
| |
| |
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jeff Cvitak . I'm the owner of Martial Arts USA in Springfield . |
| I have been teaching Martial Arts to families just like yours here for over 18 years. |
| |
| |
I have taught over 10,000 kids the very same thing. Kids right here in the community. Your kids may have even |
| seen me at their school. I have brought my “Three Rules of Focus” and “To Be Your Best” programs to over 20 |
| schools in the community: |
| |
The Summit Preparatory School |
McBride Elementary |
Horace Mann Elementary |
Nixa Middle School |
Jeffries Elementary |
Pershing Middle School |
Weaver Elementary |
Espy Elementary |
Century Elementary |
Pershing Elementary |
Mark Twain Elementary |
New Covenant Academy |
Ozark Secondary School |
Mathews Elementary |
Republic Elementary |
High Pointe Elementary |
Wanda Gray |
Sunshine Elementary |
Disney Elementary |
Sherwood Elementary |
|
| |
| Here is how our program works: |
| |
| Courage |
| Our students find the courage to move outside of their comfort zone. They will themselves to take on more difficult |
| karate moves and skills. They suddenly see their lives as a constant, never-ending journey of life-giving improvement. |
| In short, with a deep breath, they refuse to become a victim of fate. They learn to create their own destiny. |
| |
| Staying Power |
| Our students find joy in improving their physical stamina. They can walk farther, run longer, and practice skills until |
| they get them right. In turn, they learn not to give up. They strive harder and longer to reach goals. Even if at first they |
| fail, they persevere. They won't let self-doubt get in the way of finding ultimate solutions. |
| |
| Keener Focus |
| They learn to make eye contact with teachers (and not just in karate). They pay greater attention to what each |
| teacher says. |
| |
| Powerful Self-Control |
| They refuse to give in to negative peer pressure and they'll gain a deeper respect for rules. |
| |
| Improved Focus |
| They'll learn what's needed, along with the skill to "zero in" on critical tasks at hand. Normal, yet time-wasting |
| childhood distractions won't get in the way. |
| |
| Fearless Self-Confidence |
| Watch as your child finds the courage to open any door life has to offer. |
| |
| Towering Role-Model Teachers |
| As you might guess, all of this couldn't have happened unless we had the very best teachers. To make sure we have |
| the very best, each of our teachers have years of experience in our system and have been thoroughly trained in |
| positive teaching methods. |
| |
| Respect |
| Through the Martial Arts USA method of martial arts instruction, your children will learn philosophies and customs |
| to build superior relationships based on friendship and mutual respect. "To get respect one must first give respect.” |
| |
| Discipline |
| Our students learn to develop self-control, self-motivation and perseverance through martial arts discipline. |
| |
| Goal Setting |
| Setting goals is the "road map" of life. It has been said that "If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail." On the road |
| towards a Black Belt, the Martial Arts USA student gains the experience and motivation for success by earning |
| progressively higher belt ranks. Success is the reward for goal setting. |
| |
| Self-Defense |
| And of course they will learn effective and powerful self-defense skills, (after all, we are a Karate School ), as well |
| as the fundamental attitudes appropriate to those tools. The basic attitudes of a successful martial artist, and a |
| successful person, are confidence, respect, discipline, goal setting and effective leadership. |
| |
| Black Belt Excellence |
| Our goal for every student is to help them earn their Black Belt not only in martial arts, but in life! By working |
| toward this goal we create an instructional environment in which individual students develop confidence by |
| accomplishing realistic and attainable goals. |
| |
| Our formula is simple... |
|
| |
| If that seems too easy, it's not! You see, by teaching children self-discipline and self-defense, children become |
| empowered with the two most important tools they need to build confidence. With confidence, children will |
| succeed and find happiness in life. |
| |
| Let's take a closer look: |
| |
| Self-Discipline |
| |
| We help our children develop self-discipline through our unique 3-step process. |
| |
Step 1 Understanding it - Through class discussions and stories our instructors teach our children the meaning |
| and benefit of having self-discipline. |
| |
Step 2 Practicing it - During classes, our instructors help children to face and overcome challenges. Soon they |
| start to discipline themselves and begin to achieve on their own. |
| |
Step 3 Applying it - Once our children successfully develop self-discipline in our school they begin to use it in |
| everything thing they do, such as school and sports. |
| |
| The truth is, self-discipline is the key to success because if you never quit you will eventually cross the finish line, just |
| like in the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. |
| |
| Self-Defense |
| |
| While teaching self-discipline, we also teach our children the art of self-defense. Never undervalue this important life |
| skill. Children today face more bullies and negative peer pressure to take drugs and alcohol then at any time in our |
| history. |
| |
| This is why at Martial Arts USA, we teach a realistic self-defense system that combines karate, kickboxing and |
| submission grappling, so children learn to defend themselves in virtually any situation, whether they are standing up |
| or on the ground. They also learn conflict resolution and when they should and shouldn't use their skills. |
| |
| Studies have shown that... |
| |
Children who learn self-defense become more assertive and less aggressive. |
| |
Children who know how to defend themselves usually don't have to, because they carry themselves in a more |
| confident manner, and confidence alone is a deterrent to bullies. |
| |
| When you combine Self-Discipline + Self-Defense, you get = |
| |
| Self-Confidence |
| |
| Martial Arts is 10 times better than team sports at developing a child's self-esteem and confidence. |
| |
| This is easy to do when your child has: |
| |
The self-discipline to achieve goals. |
| |
The self-defense skills to back him / her up so he / she doesn't have to feel intimidated to stand up for what |
| he / she believes. |
| |
| Healthy Body - Healthy Mind |
| |
| Television, Soft drinks, Video Games, and Fast Food |
| |
| These are just a few of the challenges children face today. Combine these with a decrease in school gym classes |
| and it's easy to see why weight problems and obesity among children have more than doubled in our country in the |
| last twenty years. |
| |
| At Martial Arts USA, we help children develop a healthy mind and body, so they have the energy and fitness to |
| face life's challenges and succeed. |
| |
| Serious Stuff? |
| |
| If this sounds like serious stuff, don't worry! Our children's classes are taught in a safe, fun and exciting environment, |
| where students are not compared to each other, but rather progress at their own pace. The competition is "from |
| oneself to oneself". |
| |
| BUT BE WARNED. Remember, you are checking out one of the most successful martial arts programs in |
| Missouri ! Don't worry! It is consistently stressed to all students that karate skills require them never to be abusive |
| or offensive and are only for use defensively. After a short period of time students become markedly less |
| aggressive while maintaining confidence and high personal self-esteem. |
